RD Tuna PNG's Fishing Business in Papua New Guinea

RD Tuna Canners Ltd. and RD Fishing PNG Ltd are strong pillars to the economic advancement of the Madang region and development of tuna industry in Papua New Guinea. Both RD companies are the first and only integrated tuna fishing and canning corporation in the Papua New Guinea. The tuna cannery and fishing operations of the two companies are governed by a 20 years agreement signed by the RD with both the independent state of Papua new Guinea and the Provincial government of Madang, PNG. The agreement commenced on July 31, 1995 and would end (although subject to renewal) on July 31, 2015.

Although relatively new in PNG, RD TUNA has been into the fish and marine products processing business since 1981. In the Philippines RD operates the following marine products related type tuna fishing business. Relying on their strong experience and technical advances in the field of tuna fishing, processing and canning, RD Tuna has invested in facilities not only for tuna but also for other fish and consumable marine animals such as prawns and shrimps.

3. Tuna Fish and prawn processing plant geared for export.
4. 7,000 metric tones cold storage in PNG and 12,000 metric tons in Philippines.
5. Two ice plants capable of producing more than 100 metric tones of ice per day.
6. Prawn and fish farms.
7. Prawn hatchery.
8. Two large wharves.
9. Cooked tuna loins processing plant.
10. Two slips ways and dockyard facilities complete and side by side with modern maintenance and repair yards.
